COP28 is over. But not everyone is happy with the new climate agreement.
There was a standing ovation after COP28 President Sultan al Jaber announced a new climate agreement had been reached.
More than 100 countries supported the idea of โphasing outโ fossil fuels.
But this proved too much to swallow for oil-rich nations, and instead, they agreed to โtransition awayโ from the polluting fuels.
Other headline agreements were to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030, and to focus on moving away from coal, the most polluting fossil fuel.
But not everyone was happy with the deal.
Representatives of low-lying island nations, who face devastation as a result of rising water levels, slammed the agreement for being too little too late.
