Chancellor says UK economy is suffering 'sprained ankle'

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said the UK economy is suffering from a "sprained ankle" but rejected the diagnosis of a "broken leg" as he painted an optimistic picture of the future.

The chancellor stressed the need for โ€œpositivityโ€ about future growth prospects as he referenced Elon Musk's recent visit to the UK.

"When Elon Musk was here three weeks ago, he said there were only two centres in the world for AI, San Francisco and London.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got a lot going for us, so if weโ€™re going to go into dealing with the sprain, rather than the broken leg, then letโ€™s do so from a perspective of positivity," Mr Hunt said.
