Dead In A Ditch Murder Trial - Day 3

Ivan “Sam” Brammer, aged 62, faces charges for the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend, Ilene Gowan, who was 60 years old.

Brammer is suspected of leaving her in a frozen ditch, leading to her death.

Initially, in May, he was charged with abusing a corpse and committing theft in the second degree for the incident that occurred in February 2023.

However, following a more in-depth investigation, authorities in Iowa apprehended him in August on charges of second-degree murder.

The investigation suggests that Brammer and Gowan's relationship was tumultuous and marred by alcohol issues.

A forensic pathologist determined that the cause of Gowan's death was strangulation.
