Govt: Regrettable civilians caught in Israel-Hamas crossfire

The Armed Forces minister says it is "deeply regrettable" civilians have been caught in the cross-fire in Israel's war with Hamas, but that Hamas "routinely uses civic infrastructure" to hide its fighters and ammunition.

James Heappey adds there are "likely" to be British hostages in Gaza, but hopes they will leave the enclave "if the opportunity comes" and that the UK is pushing for the opening of the Rafah border crossing into Egypt.
