Sir Michael Parkinson dies aged 88

Sir Michael Parkinson, Britain’s most famous chat show host, has died at the age of 88.

Over four decades, Parkinson interviewed some of the world’s biggest stars, including Muhammed Ali, John Lennon and Fred Astaire.

He also made stars - Sir Billy Connolly’s early appearances on Parkinson’s show helped bring the Scottish comedian global fame.

Sir Michael is survived by his wife Mary and his three sons.
