PM: Very optimistic about the future for energy in UK

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak defends his plan for new oil and gas licences in the North Sea, along with announcing funding for carbon capture initiatives, as “entirely consistent” with net zero plans.

He says, “we should be excited about the prospect of leading the world” and “strengthening energy security”.
