The new show is set to air during the channel's annual "Shark Week" event.

According to environmental engineer Tracy Fanara, "There's a lot of legitimacy to this clickbait headline.".

Fanara, who took part in the experiments off of Key West, says that large quantities of cocaine wash up on U.S. coasts every year.

Outside of Miami, the Coast Guard found 14,153 pounds of cocaine worth over $186 million in the ocean just last month.

An expert in chemical transport and ocean currents, Fanara says that there is a strong chance that sharks come into contact with the drug.

According to Fanara, the intent is to show the impact that chemicals in the water can have on marine life.
