Superpower Rivalry in the 21st Century (Myth20c - Ep252)

Soon after the end of the Second World War, the United States and the Soviet Union emerged as ‘superpowers’, leaders of the two primary ideological power blocks across the world’s major continents.

After nearly 50 years of competition, the United States emerged victorious, and led an unprecedented era of ‘globalization’ for the next 20 years promoting free trade and relatively open labor and capital markets along with democratically elected governments.

With the rise of emerging economies such as India, and the success of China’s state-led capitalism and a resurgent Russia opposing NATO expansion, other countries around the world have taken note, however, as to the potential for new global leadership and development models that differ from America’s.

Tonight we are joined by Lance, a veteran and host of Lance’s Legion, a military history and philosophy podcast, to discuss the ramifications for major geopolitical power realignment into the 21st century.
