Su-75 'Checkmate' Fighter: India likely to collaborate with Russia | Explainer | Oneindia News

Reports have emerged that Russia is potentially seeking India’s assistance in developing the Su-75 Light Tactical Aircraft named the “Checkmate”.

An offer for this is likely to be made to the Indian authorities during the Aero India exhibition that will take place in Bengaluru between February 13-17.

The project was initially revealed at the MAKS airshow in July 2021 in Moscow.

From its inception, the aircraft was targeted at Asian, Middle Eastern, African, European, and Latin American nations looking for a lighter, more affordable…and most importantly... non-US aircrafts.

India, on its part, is already doing groundwork to produce its own 6th generation fighter aircraft.

Although there are still doubts over whether the indigenously made jet would be a 5th generation one…or the 6th generation one.

In this video, we take a quick look at this Checkmate fighter jet and their features.
