Yazidi's massacre in Iraq recognised by German Parliament as 'Genocide' | Oneindia News *Explainer

They are one of the world’s most persecuted religious minorities.

For centuries they have been trying to make their voices heard…and to highlight their agonies, predicament and the injustices meted out to them...in front of the world.

But sadly…it has been of no avail.

But yesterday…something happened that has raised hopes for them.

Germany’s lower house of parliament yesterday recognised the 2014 massacre of Yazidis by the ISIS in Iraq as a “genocide”… and called for measures to assist this besieged minority.

Although seen more in symbolic terms rather than having any actual and tangible effect….this is an important development.

Germany has recognized their genocide, following the legal evaluations of investigators from the United Nations…and after similar moves by countries including Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Today, we bring to you the story of this alienated minority group…the Yazidis…and the genocide of 2014..that the lower house of German Parliament has recognized.

But before that, don’t forget to like, share and subscribe to Oneindia.
