Health secretary says 19% pay rise is ‘not affordable’
Health secretary Steve Barclay says that a 19% pay rise for nurses is “not affordable given the many other economic pressures that we face.” Tens of thousands of nurses are going on strike on Thursday for the first time across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
