Pema Khandu, the state chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, remarked on December 14 that it is no longer 1962 and hailed the Indian Army for defending the nation days after an altercation between India and China along the line of actual control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of the state.

"Earlier, the circumstance was distinct.

1962 is no longer the year.

Things have become better under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction.

I thank our soldiers on behalf of the people of my state for defending the nation.
