A 2,560-lb pumpkin set a record for the heaviest pumpkin in North American history, beating out a previous record holder by just 6 pounds.

Its owner traveled 35 hours to transport Maverick to the contest and walked away with a grand prize of $23,040 — a payout of $9 per pound.
