Londoners sing a forlorn "God Save the Queen" outside Buckingham Palace after the news of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

She was the UK's longest reigning monarch, ascending to the throne in 1952, before overseeing a period of profound transformation in the country.

The icon, instantly recognisable to billions of people around the world, was also head of the 56-nation Commonwealth.
