First Black Woman MP in Bundestag | German Federal Parliament | Awet Tesfaiesus | Oneindia News
Eritrean-born lawyer Awet Tesfaiesus had been involved in local politics before being elected to the German parliament.
She hopes that her visibility as an MP will encourage young immigrant women to follow in her footsteps.
Awet Tesfaiesus, a member of the Green Party, was also elected on Sunday to represent the state of Hesse.
She came to Germany with her family in her childhood.
