"Dune" also did well internationally, helping the film to gross another $47 million.

Globally, the film has grossed $220 million.

I'm smiling... Exhibitors are thrilled.

The best part is, fans are loving what they're seeing.

They're loving the big-screen experience.

It's been a winner of a weekend for movie-lovers, Jeff Goldstein, president of domestic distribution Warner Bros, via Variety.

The film has been critically well-recieved.

Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures co-financed the film, spending $156 million.

With the opening weekend re-calibrating expectations, CNet reports that director Denis Villeneuve intends the film to have a sequel.

The production is so amazing and the storytelling is so compelling that it's not going to be judged on box office alone, Ann Sarnoff, chairperson WarnerMedia, via Variety
