Nyaruot Nguany is an environmental activist in Maine who has had a lifelong passion for the outdoors.

She attended an expeditionary high school and started out working on a farm and community garden.

Nguany noticed a lack of BIPOC representation within the environment sector and in outdoor recreation professions, so she helped form the Maine Environmental Changemakers Network.

The Maine Environmental Changemakers Network brings together BIPOC youth who are passionate about the environment.

Their website states: 'Changemakers provides the training and resources needed to support the environmental actions that participants organize in their communities.'
