As fall approaches and the pandemic continues, NPR spoke with New York University neuroscientist Wendy Suzuki , about how people can cope with anxiety.

Here are 3 tips she suggests:.

1.

Learn to breathe yourself calm.

If you find yourself feeling anxious or angry, why not let your , parasympathetic nervous system help you out.

"The secret is deep breathing," , Suzuki says.

And you can do it wherever you are.

Inhale deeply while you count to 4, .

And then exhale while you count to 4.

Repeat until calm.

2.

Move your body.

Every time you move your body, it's like you're giving your brain a wonderful bubble bath of neurochemicals, including dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline, Wendy Suzuki , Neuroscientist at New York University, via NPR.

3.

Connect with others.

Being with other people is a critical part of maintaining mental health.

It's important to take precautions and keep an eye on what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends.

But it's also important to go on vacation, visit your parents, or see a friend you haven't seen in a while
