The CCTV video, filmed in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province on June 25, shows a car suddenly speeding up when reversing out of a garage.

A woman walked past the road and narrowly avoided being hit by the car which crashed into another vehicle.

According to reports, the motorist mistook the accelerator for the brake causing the incident.

The case is under further investigation.
