Pride parade held in Warsaw amid rising homophobia in Poland

LGBT+ activists stood up to rising homophobia in Poland to hold a Pride Parade on Saturday 19 June.

After a pandemic-induced break in 2020, this year's event took place on a smaller scale as some COVID-19 restrictions remain in place.

Tensions are high in the region, with rising homophobia in Poland and Hungary in particular, where laws have been passed against what proponents baselessly claim is the 'promotion' of homosexuality, and towns have been declared 'LGBT-free'.
