UK solar panelled and wildflower topped bus stops latest scheme to help tackle climate change

A new network of bee-friendly bus stops with wildflowers growing on their roofs are being installed to help tackle climate change.

A 10-year contact to replace all of Leicester's 479 dreary bus shelters with the 'Bee Bus Stops' has begun.

Each shelter is planted with a mix of wildflowers and sedum plants which support wildlife such as bees and butterflies and add some extra greenery to the city.

Other bus shelters in the city are set to be fitted with solar panels, powering smart lighting and cutting energy use where feasible.
