Delhi Police nabs gang selling fire extinguishers as oxygen cylinders

Delhi Police has arrested three persons Ravi Sharma, Shambhu Shah and Mohammed Abdul for allegedly selling painted fire extinguishers as oxygen cylinders.

In the wake of the increasing demand for Oxygen cylinders during the current wave of the pandemic, they had gathered a large number of fire extinguishers in their godowns.

They used to paint them black.

Along with this, the accused were selling the cylinders' nozzle at a higher price.

An NGO, a victim of their fraud, lodged a complaint with the police that some people had sold them fire extinguishers in the name of oxygen cylinders at high prices.

The police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Subsequently, it raided a warehouse in Alipur and arrested the three accused when they were carrying out the operations to change the cylinders.

Police have recovered Rs 49,500 cash and 532 fire extinguishing gas cylinders, 26 oxygen gas cylinder nozzles, black paint boxes from their possession.
