Mumbai Mayor flags vaccine availability issue even as preparations on for phase-3 drive

Central government had announced that the third vaccination drive, starting from May 01, will cover people between 18-44 years.

Ahead of vaccination drive, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar assured that the preparations are underway but the work will be carried out on the basis of the number of vaccines is received.

"We have started all the preparations for vaccination.

There are 277 municipality helpers.

In each helper's ward, we are setting up a vaccination centre for people above 18 years of age.

But the vaccines should come in that amount.

Municipal Corporation is not allowed to purchase; it will be done by only state and central government.

So we will work depending on the amount of vaccines we receive," said Mumbai Mayor during a press conference on April 27.
