Body mass index, age can also have affect on neck pain

The findings of a recent study suggests that while the neck's ability to perform sustained or repeated movements is primarily affected by the poor neck and head postures, but along with that body mass index, age, and the time of the day also have an influence on it.

The study led by researchers at Texas AandM University is published online in the journal Human Factors, a flagship journal in the field of human factors and ergonomics.

"Neck pain is one of the leading and fastest-growing causes of disability in the world," said Xudong Zhang, professor in the Wm Michael Barnes '64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
