Meghalaya govt imposes restrictions on tourists from other states

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday said that the Government will impose restriction on tourists from April 23 for 14 days but however local tourist are allowed to visit some tourist spots.

He said that restrictions will not be imposed on the commercial market areas.

"We are going to watch the situation for seven days.

If people follow the protocols, we can still move on.

If we don't see any improvement we will consider some options.

As of now, we request the shop owners to work with us.

Because we feel that once we restrict them, people rush and that creates the crowd at places.

So we want to give a chance and see how it works", CM Sangma said.
