COVID-19: India reports spike of over 2.6 lakh cases

COVID-19 situation continues to deteriorate across the country.

Daily cases breached 2-lakh mark for 4th consecutive day on April 18 as India reported 2,61,500 new cases.

Country's COVID caseload is at 1,47,88,109 with 18,01,316 active cases.

1,38,423 people were discharged in last 24 hours taking total recoveries to 1,28,09,643.

With 1,501 new deaths, death toll has mounted to 1,77,150.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 26,65,38,416 samples tested for COVID-19.

The COVID vaccination drive is underway across country.

So far 12,26,22,590 COVID vaccine jabs have been inoculated.
