Alexey Navalny 'close to death,' press secretary says

The press secretary and assistant for jailed Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny says he is close to death.

Navalny has been on a hunger strike to protest against prison officials’ refusal to grant him access to proper medical care.

CNN is not able to independently verify the state of Navalny’s health.
