Bengal: TMC leader allegedly attacked by BJP 'goons', suffers head injuries

A TMC candidate from West Bengal's Cooch Behar was allegedly attacked by BJP workers.

The incident took place on Thursday while he was returning from an election campaign, Girindra Nath Barma, TMC candidate from Mathabhanga seat, sustained head injuries.

TMC workers protested in front of SDO office and demanded EC's action against it.

TMC took to twitter and lashed out at BJP over the incident.

Polling for Mathabhanga will be held on Saturday in the fourth phase of elections.

BJP has fielded Sushil Barman against TMC's Barman and CPIM's Ashok Barman.

The eight-phase polling in West Bengal will conclude on April 29, results on May 2.
