The latest round of stimulus checks are hitting bank accounts...offering some financial relief to those feeling the stress put on by the covid pandemic about those who don't have a bank account?

Joseph's homeless population are getting their cut of the money.

Kilee thomas reportingliving on the streets comes with countless hurdles and getting a stimulus check is just another one.

Joseph's homeless community organization is breaking down those barriers those most in need potentially life-changing money.

Sot: sheila mendez, street outreach case manager-"we decided we needed to do this."

Since last march...the street outreach team at community missions has been signing up the city's homeless' to receive their stimulus checks mendez-"we started with a laptop in the back of my car."

By knocking down hurdles like replacing id's and setting up a post office box as a way for staff to collect those checks and hand them out to the homeless cmc even helping some create savings accounts.

Sot: kiger-"until they can get established in their own homes with their own address, we're kinda helping them safely receive their checks, safely put their money away so they aren't a target."

Now 75 homeless residents have their checks into the communitygiving those on the streets a safe place to sleep, shower and eat.

Cmc says this money piece by piece back together "homelessness is complex and it takes a while to put the pieces of the puzzle together to get stable housing, getting a birth certificate- you can't do anything without id.

So, there's a lot of things that this stimulus money has helped with in our homeless population."
