'Covid-19 vaccine for all above 45 years from April 1': Govt

Union Cabinet decided to open vaccination drive for anyone above 45 years starting April 1.

Prakash Javadekar said there will be no need for medical certificates attesting co-morbidities.

India's vaccination drive entered the second phase from March 1, 2021.

Senior citizens and those above 45 years with co-morbidities were eligible to take vaccine.

Medical certificates were mandatory for people between 45-59 years.

Centre aims to speed up the vaccination pace amid a steep rise in Covid-19 cases.

In past few weeks, several states urged the Centre to open vaccination for all.
