Tire flies off truck smashing into two cars driving behind in Thailand
This is the shocking moment a tire flew off a truck and smashed into two cars driving behind.
Dashcam footage shows the 2ft-diameter rubber tire coming loose from the moving lorry before crashing into the vehicle in Udon Thani province, Thailand on March 17.
After the tire had struck the white Honda sedan, it then bounced onto a Chevrolet driving alongside it on the highway.
No one was hurt and both drivers were able to regain control after the terrifying incident, but the tire left dents and scratches on their vehicles.
The female white Honda’s driver said she head a loud explosion-like sound before she noticed the tire flying off the truck.
She said: ‘There was a loud bang and suddenly I saw the tire coming towards my car.
I was hit and almost panicked but I tried to remain calm and continue driving.’ The other vehicle’s driver, Anuwat Krasaesang, 56, said she was hit immediately after the car beside her and almost lost control out of fear.
She said: ‘The tire bounced off from the vehicle beside me to my car.
It was a scary thing to happen while driving on the road.’ The two female motorists reported the incident to the police but the 18-wheeler truck’s driver had fled the scene without checking those he hit behind.
Lieutenant Colonel Mangkorn Chomkot, who was assigned to the case, said they will track the truck driver down so they could question him.
He said: ‘We checked the surveillance cameras to trace the where the 18-wheeler had driven to so we could file charges against the driver.’
