Delhi Police foiled Rs 50 lakh extortion bid

With the arrest of two persons Adil and Moin Crime Branch of Delhi police foiled an extortion attempt made by the accused by claiming himself to be the notorious gangsters, from Tihar Jail.

A complaint was received by police from a businessman.

He alleged that he received a phone call on his mobile phone stating that gangster is calling from Tihar Jail.

The caller threatened the complainant and demanded Rs 50,00,000/- from him and gave two days for arranging the same else be ready to face the consequences.

On the basis of technical investigation, the police team identified the locations of the suspects.

It was revealed that the suspects were active in the area of North - East, Delhi, after confirming the presence in the area police conducted a raid in the area of Yamuna Vihar to nab the culprits.

Sincere efforts of the team yielded results and one of the suspects was apprehended from the area.

During sustained interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the crime and was subsequently arrested.

Later at his instance, police apprehended his associate.

On his instance the mobile phone which was used in making the ransom call was recovered.

Further investigation of the case is in progress.
