An adventurous cat had a lucky escape after it was spotted holding up a high speed train - by snoozing on the roof. The tabby was spotted curled up on the top of the London Euston to Manchester service minutes before it was due to begin its 125mph journey.Despite being dangerously close to the 25,000 volt overhead lines, the cat looked perfectly content snuggled up on top of the Avanti West Coast train.Thankfully, staff were alerted to the furry hitch hiker before the train left the station.Passengers were transferred to a replacement train so staff could coax it down. And after two and a half hours, the cheeky cat climbed down, using a nearby bin as a perch, on Tuesday night.A hilarious video clip filmed by a passenger on an adjacent train shows the cat walking across the train roof before it leapt down and escaped to safety. The passenger, Kyle Evans, 23, said: "I was heading home when I looked out of the window and saw a cat just walking along the roof."I was watching it for a few minutes and laughing, if I'm honest!
I was very confused at how the cat got up there - obviously you see birds up there all the time, but never a cat!"Of course, as soon as I pulled my phone out, the cat started to disappear.
My train then left just five minutes late because of the cat."Avanti West Coast said the cat left the train roof safely and was seen escaping out of the station.A spokesperson for the train operating company said: "If only cats could talk!
We expect it was most likely chasing some mice though."We have no idea how it got there, but the good news is it was gotten down safely."We don't know where the cat is now - all we know is that it got down safely and off it went out of the station."
