Gujarat local body polls: Counting of votes begins

The counting of votes polled in elections to six municipal corporations of Gujarat began on February 23.

Counting of votes for Gujarat local body polls is taking place at a polling centre in Vadodara.

Vadodara recorded the turnout of 47.84%.

The elections of local body polls were held on February 21.

Rajkot recorded the turnout of 50.72%.

Counting of votes is underway at a counting centre in Surat at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology.

Surat recorded the turnout of 47.14%.

The six civic bodies- Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar were being ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ahmedabad recorded the lowest turnout of 42.51% on voting day.
