Police clash with ultra-Orthodox Israelis resisting Covid-19 rules

In ultra-Orthodox areas across Israel, police have clashed with members of the community angry at the government’s attempts to impose nationwide lockdown rules on local schools and synagogues.

Many Israelis are bitter over what they see as tolerance of lockdown violations by significant parts of the ultra-Orthodox community, a potent force in an election year.
