Alexei Navalny Makes Court Appeal as Police Crackdown on Top Aides Anti-Putin activist Alexei Navalny has called his detention “blatantly illegal" as he appeared in court via video link.

The judge rejected Navalny’s appeal against detention for 30 days.

The Putin critic complained he hadn’t been allowed to speak to his lawyers privately since his arrest.

Officers have arrested some of his top aides, including lawyer Lyubov Sobol and his brother Oleg.
