Delhi Police arrest notorious gangster after brief exchange of fire

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a notorious gangster Attaur Rehman alias Sohail after a brief exchange of fire.

Accused is involved in 11 criminal cases including two of murder, two of attempt to murder, one of extortion and others of arms act, hurt, assault, riot, criminal intimidation, trespass, MV theft etc in Delhi-NCR.

A team of Special Cell was tracking the movements of Attaur Rehman for the last three months.

Specific information was received about the coming of Attaur Rehman on a Honda Unicorn bike to meet his associate at Chhatarpur Pahari Road, Delhi.

A trap was laid and he was cornered.

When he was asked to surrender, he whipped out his pistol and fired at the team members.

Police team also fired in self defense to overpower the accused in which Attaur Rehman got injured in his right leg.

Finally, he was overpowered and disarmed by the members of the police team.

Attaur Rehman was immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where his condition is stable.

Attaur Rehman has been absconding for a year in a case of murder in the area of PS Sangam Vihar.

Krishan Bhadana, brother of Subhash Bhadana, a serving Counselor of Kalkaji, Delhi was shot dead by Attaur Rehman and his associates in the year 2018.

Accused was granted interim bail for 10 days in January 2020 in the above case but he did not surrender after the expiry of bail period.

Since then, he has been absconding.
