Bird flu scare: Delhi govt sets up response team to monitor poultry sales

Outbreak of bird flu, also known as avian influenza, has affected the poultry business.

Delhi government's Animal Husbandry Department has set up 11 response teams to monitor poultry sales and transportation in their assigned districts.

Ghazipur Murga Mandi General Secretary, Mohammad Salim said, "We have formed a 5-6 members committee that surveys the market and checks the quality of poultry at different shops.

Committee also checks health certificates of the poultry products." Animal Husbandry Department, Health official Dr Sunil Singh Tomar said, "We are instructed to keenly monitor and observe the situation and ensure proper sampling.

11 Rapid Response Teams are formed by Delhi government who are monitoring their assigned districts."
