Lac handicrafts uplifting livelihood of Mayurbhanj women

Women are earning their bread and butter by lac handicraft in Mayurbhanj district's Thakurmunda.

Over 100 women make bangles, plates and other beautiful items from lac.

Odisha government incentives are being provided for lac farming and lac handicrafts through the Mission Livelihood (Mission Jeevika).

More than 100 farmers are cultivating lac in thousands acres and more than 100 women are under training to make bangles, unique items through Industrial Training Development Authority (ITDA).

After Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Maharashtra, now lac farming has took a pace in Odisha through Mission Livelihood.
