AG Barr Says No Need For Special Counsel on Voter Fraud

AG Barr Says No Need For Special Counsel, on Voter Fraud.

Barr made the comments during a Monday news conference.

They were a response to questions about President Donald Trump's recent proposal to appoint a special counsel to investigate his false claims of voter fraud.

If I thought a special counsel at this stage was the right tool and was appropriate, I would name one, but I haven't and I'm not going to, William Barr, U.S. Attorney General, via NPR News.

Trump has also suggested appointing a special counsel to investigate President-elect Joe Biden's son, Hunter.

Hunter is under a federal investigation involving tax issues.

I think (the Hunter Biden investigation is) being handled responsibly and professionally currently within the department, .., William Barr, U.S. Attorney General, via NPR News.

... and to this point I have seen no reason to appoint a special counsel, and I have no plan to do so before I leave, William Barr, U.S. Attorney General, via NPR News.

Barr will step down from his position as U.S. Attorney General on Wednesday.

He recently fell out of favor with the president after stating a Justice Department investigation discovered no evidence of voter fraud.
