Nearing maple syrup season

We usually talk about maple syrup in the new year.

But, just in time for the holidays, you can get syrup produced from Prairie Creek Park through the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department.

We're nearing syrup tapping season..

A very "sweet" gift is available for the holidays right from vigo county!

Rondrell, we usually talk about maple syrup in the new year... each february, the vigo county parks department taps the trees for syrup.

This is mark wiggins, also known as maple mark.

He's been producing syrup at prairie creek park in vigo county for seven years.

Again this year..

You can get some syrup like "maple mark" makes..

Just in time for the holidays.

The vigo county parks and recreation is selling it.

"wiggins" says what makes his job so sweet... is the visitors from the community.

So} "we enjoy seeing the people come out... and normally when they come out and watch us boil, and they get the nice aroma of the maple syrup being cooked, the joy of the little kids, their faces, it's just fun to have the people come out and watch what we do out here.

Brian gilbert, the brian brian gilbert, the assistant superintendent of vigo county parks says they plan to allow tours through syrup season.

He says this will happen while following health department guidelines.

Changes from past years will include smaller groups, masks, and reservations.

You'll need to make reservations in advance.
