To the holiday.## business owners have faced signifigant challenges due to the pandemic this year-- but as kristian lopez shows us-- one still managed to give back to the community..

Kristian:i spoke with a local business owner who has also been struggling during the pandemic but decided to give back to the community.

Mary chin/ owner of my oven's meals: we've definitely struggled, we've seen changes with orders and business.

Mary chin, who owns my oven's meals in chico volunteered her time to cook turkeys for the guests at the torres shelter.

Mary chin: it's important everybody has a warm, healthy delicious meal.

Nats janine gomez/housing locator, torres shelter: the guests are happy and the look on people's faces when i walk in with cart loads of donation, it's going to be a great thanksgiving for everyone.

Angela keller/shelter guest: it was pretty awesome seeing all the donations come in and they weren't stopping and still aren't stopping.

Mary chin: i'm thankful for my community i've made a lot of friends since living in chico and i'm thankful for time and being around people who are supportive.

Kristian:workers did tell me they saw more donations this year compared to last year.

The shelter received food donations from about a dozen local businesses today.

They have socially distanced their dining area and have multiple meal times so they can serve smaller groups
