Baby chimp starts to notice her reflection in the mirror

MAISIE MILESTONE: Around 2-3 months old, baby chimpanzees stare at and focus on objects, including their own reflections.

She was born on August 28, 2020 at the Oklahoma City Zoo and her mother was not able to raise her.

We have two other young chimpanzees, Lola 1 year 3 months old, and Violet, 10 months old, as well as a chimp who has served as a surrogate mother in the past, so the Chimpanzee Species Survival Plan (SSP) asked if we would hand-raise her until she could be placed with the surrogate mother chimp.
