Who is Margaret Thatcher?

Margaret Thatcher was the first female prime minister in the United Kingdom.

She was the leader of the Conservative Party and came to power in a general election in 1979.

One of her earliest political successes was the Falklands War.

When Argentinian forces invaded, she sent the British Military to defend the islands, resulting in a war lasting about two months.

Britain won the war and it bouyed her and her party in the polls.

However, she was not popular among trade unions.

Thatcher died in 2013 and was given a ceremonial funeral, which was attended by the Queen.
