COVID tally crosses 61-lakh mark, recovery rate boosts to 83%

With continuous rise in COVID-19 cases, India crossed 61-lakh mark on Sep 29.

Spike of 70,589 new cases and 776 deaths reported in last 24 hours.

COVID-19 tally stands at 61,45,292 including 9,47,576 active cases, 51,01,398 cured/discharged/migrated and 96,318 deaths.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 7,31,10,041 COVID samples tested up to 28th September.

Of these, 11,42,811 samples were tested on September 28.

According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India has witnessed close to 100% increase in recoveries in the past month.

More than 83% of total cases (exceeding 50 lakhs) recovered and discharged.

The active cases (lower than 10 lakhs) are a small proportion (less than 1/5th) of total cases.
