Jackson County plans to 'debrief' on emergency alerts after Almeda Fire, but not right away

Jackson County uses Everbridge as its emergency alert vendor, a system that can send targeted alerts to people in specific areas via landline or cell phone.

While the older EAS system is still in place, it was not used.

Jackson county is still answering questions about how people were told to evacuate in the early hours of the almeda fire.

The jackson county sheriff says his department had deputies going door to door telling people to get out.

The county also activated it's electronic notification system that uses cell phones and land lines.

The county did not activate the emergency alert system' that is the system that you often see tested on television and hear on the radio, we are trying to find out why the system was not used and why.
