Thunderstorm and heavy rain hits Bangkok, Thailand

A thunderstorm brought heavy rain to Bangkok, Thailand, this afternoon (September 10).

The torrential downpour moved across the city, forcing residents to take shelter in shop doorways.

Some parts of the capital experienced flash floods with drains struggling to cope with the deluge.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, the Philippines, as well as China and Japan in the Far East, are at the peak of the annual rainy season, that sees regular tropical storms until cooler weather arrives towards the late October.
