Raelynn Craig Birthday Walk

Teressa Park and Tammy Rucker join us to discuss a memorial walk for Raelynn Craig, the 2-year-old who was killed in a drive by shooting last month.

Raelynn Craig Birthday Walk

C1 welcome back, the death of two-year old raelynn craig shocked our community and now the community wants to come together and show their support.

Joining me is terressa park and joni rivers.

>> i heard this will happen at 6:00 p.m.

Where can people meet if they want to support the family?

>> so we're starting down in the parking lot of the swimming pool at noise and mcthenny street.

Then we will walk up to the frog hop where raelynn was shot and then we will have a little moment of silence for her.

>> okay and do people need to come wearing a certain color?

Do they need to make sure that they stay a certain distance a part or what are your rules for the event tomorrow evening?

>> well, we're asking that everybody show up around 5:00 p.m.

And we're going to make posters and we ask they wear bright color clothing because that was her favorite.

Anything frozen or lol she loves.

We want to honor that.

We are also asking please do not leave your children unattended.

Anyone under 13 do not leave unattended.

>> tressa, tell us why you decided to do this?

>> our community has been going through a lot of stressful things this last month or so with the shootings that are constantly happening and then the climax of raelynn being shot.

That's kind of where we left it.

And things are still happening, people are starting to retreat into their home.

They're starting to be scared to be in the public, especially in that area and it's just something that it's so tragic this girl lost her life right before her third birthday.

Tomorrow is actually raelynn's third birthday.

And a lot of times it's really fresh and people send out their condolences.

The hard time starts and kicks in once the services of laying them to rest, the family begins to have less and less contact.

We want the people and community to know we will never, ever let raelynn's memory fade.

We have to keep talking about it.

We have to get back out there and honor her.

>> sweet raelynn.

It's so sad to hear her birthday is on the special day you're hosting it.

Can you tell us, tammy, what can we do as a community to show our support for the family but to stand up to violence?

>> just take a stand.

Don't be afraid to talk or speak out.

If you someone is going on and it's important, if it will prevent a child from losing their life, please step forward and don't be afraid.

You're not snitching on anyone.

You're saving a life.

That's very important.

Well said.

>> this baby did not deserve to die like this.

No child does.

>> i know we all three of us probably right now as well as the people at home have chills because it's so true.

We thank you so much for what you're doing in
