Workers try to fight dust devil tornado ripping through flour processing plant

This is the dramatic moment factory workers tried to fight and "kill" a dust devil using their tools.

Footage shows a land spout tornado wreaking havoc at a flour processing factory in Central Java, Indonesia on July 31.

The raging whirlwind blew large clouds of flour into the air while the workers took their tools and hit the mass of hot air.

Muhammad Ajiz, who lives near the plantation, said: "It happened during the day after lunch.

Suddenly there was a wind spinning and passing in the flour drying place.

Some of the guys tried to scare it away.'' Ajiz added that they are not new to whirlwinds and these small twisters often come by their village but it was the biggest one so far.

He said: "We've always had these whirlwinds, but not as big as yesterday.

The wind carried more than two sacks of flour." No one was hurt by the raging dust devil and it disippated after a few minutes.

Dust devils form when a pocket of hot air near the surface rises quickly through cooler air above it which leads to an updraft.

If conditions are just right, the updraft may begin to rotate
