Wild monkeys terrorise homes and damage roofs in Thailand

Residents were terrified after their homes were damaged by a group of wild monkeys.

Locals contacted the emergency services when they were disturbed by the primates in Samut Sakhon, central Thailand on Wednesday afternoon (July 29).

Footage shows the creatures resting on the roof after they had ripped off the roof tile and some cable wire on it.

One of the residents said that their home was raided by the monkeys before but the authorities had taken care of it.

Chayut Kaimuk said: "There were monkeys in the area for a long time but they started to damage the properties it was taken care of by the authorities.

"There used to be more than a hundred of them but they were caught and released back to the wild.

Now they are coming back." Chayut added that they were desperate for the local government to take some action again.

He said: "We are facing the same problem with the monkeys again and it is very disturbing.

"We are also worried that the children might be attacked by them so it would be better if the authorities take action urgently."
